Mental Health is Important as a CUNY Student(s)

Sometimes, college students get stressed about exams and must get good grades to improve their GPA. This could lead to mental fatigue or anxiety. However, many counseling resources provide support and resources to students. While working on assignments, our minds must be stable enough to handle several essays, short quizzes, and more. It depends on how a person works and the exact timing or organization. Work, Study, and rest —it’s simple. Don’t overwhelm yourself.

Trust me, CUNY is helping a lot by pushing campaigns about mental health and providing so much for the student body. I have had past experiences with depression and anxiety. I couldn’t offer myself the strength to keep going with completing assignments, and sometimes, it’s hard to announce my conflicts with a professor. Some professors understand, and some won’t, which is a bummer. It seems like “you don’t care about college at all,” which isn’t true. Four years ago, I was fresh out of high school as a 17-year-old; as a SUNY student before, I didn’t feel I was at home at ALL, and it was when COVID was around. Sometimes, you need time for yourself and be able to figure out what you would do with your life. As I did, I took a two-year break and decided to return to college as a CUNY student in a community college. It’s essential to take breaks and breathe a bit.

Our minds aren’t focused on the negativity around us, which can be why we send assignments late and can’t keep up with the lectures. Students wouldn’t want to make the professor disappointed, as you’re in college to learn and succeed with the career path you take. Even I give up easily. The professors at any CUNY campus are supportive and willing to see you walk the stage with a degree. For a person reading this post, you can find help as you’re not alone in the ride. There are a ton of students around the city that could either be stressed, depressed or have any sight of mental health. Building a connection and being able to support/comfort another. CUNY is a family, even if you’re from out of state, international, or anywhere. You’re always welcome within the campus with open arms, and we help each other even if we’re homesick or feeling alone.
