Dante’s Bucket List

Even though discussing our dreams and aspirations is less daunting than the question of “What are you going to do after college?,” it’s still really difficult for me to go over everything I want to do with my life. So here’s a simpler way of expressing it:

Dante’s 2023-24 School Year Bucket List

  1. Get my degree
  2. Get a 4.0 GPA
  3. Graduate and immediately go into the workforce
  4. Start my path to world domination
  5. Release a triple-platinum, Grammy-award-winning album in between
  6. Start my own business
  7. Open a museum
  8. Gain a brain chip that allows every piece of information I learn to be permanently stored in it
  9. Not gain any weight from eating unhealthily
  10. Read all of the books collecting dust in my house
  11. Dance in the rain
  12. Get bit by a rat, contract rabies, but make a stunning recovery from it
  13. Write about this incident in my New York Times bestselling autobiography
  14. ???
  15. Profit
  16. Finally win an arm wrestling match
  17. Overcome my imposter syndrome
  18. Advocate for baby seals
  19. Go on a world tour to promote my music and PhD dissertation at the same time
  20. Donate my now-grandiose amounts of money to the poor and to educational institutions
  21. Win a Nobel Prize
  22. Start my stand-up comedy career and get booed off the stage
  23. Eradicate world hunger
  24. Find a cure for cancer
  25. Put all of my accomplishments into the aforementioned museum I open
  26. Become a household name
  27. World domination!

Of course, there’s no way I can do all of these things, but this is a sort of simulation of how my brain works when I receive a question or prompt of this nature. I find that there’s so much I want to do with my life, but there’s no way I could achieve all of it, and this can cause a lot of internal conflict. For instance, I really love singing, but I knew that there was no way I could turn it into a career. So I decided to pursue something I was also really passionate about in college instead, but it still feels like there’s often something missing or “wrong” about the path I’ve chosen. Eventually, I’ll learn to make one goal and stick to fulfilling it, but I’m not sure when that will happen.
