What do I want to do for the rest of my life?

Posted by Marco Alba (he/his/him) on

Reflecting on my life experience I was very lucky to have some sort of stability in my home to be able to get an education and develop as a person. With that being said there’s so much I haven’t been able to experiences from traveling around the United States to even outside of the country, to learning an instrument or even trying new foods. My family are first generation immigrants who don’t speak English, they’re very cautious and untrusting. For that reason I would like to experience new communities, places, languages, food and way of living which is why I’m fascinated by Anthropology. The study of people in how they interact with others and their surrounding provide such a surreal feeling about learning people that don’t identify like me. I hope my career path would not only help me explore various groups of people, but also help me reconnect my roots to understand what it means to be a Dominican in the contemporary era. Research and traveling maybe opposing activities in the sense of “fun”, but that’s what I hope to do for the rest of my life.
